Installing Chronicle on a User's Computer

Follow these instructions for each computer where someone will use Chronicle. Once the server setup is done, you can add additional Chronicle workstations at any time.


Make sure the computer you want to install Chronicle on meets our requirements.

Computers where people use Chronicle should meet these guidelines:





Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2ghz or higher if purchasing a new computer.

Any Pentium 3 processor or higher.

Operating System

Windows 7 and Windows 8

Windows Vista and earlier are NOT supported.


1GB, with 2+ recommended

256 MB if you scan from that workstation; 128MB if the workstation doesn’t have a scanner.

Internet Explorer

version 6.0 or later


1280 x 1024  or higher resolution

1024 x 768 or higher resolution

96 DPI (other DPI settings may cause display problems)


Find out the IP address for your Chronicle server.

The IP address may be a string of numbers like or it may look like

If this is a new installation of Chronicle: Check with the network administrator who set the Chronicle server up to find out what IP address the Chronicle server is set to.

If you already have Chronicle working on other computers and are just adding it to a new computer: Go to a computer where Chronicle is already set up and start Chronicle. On the login screen, write down the address that is after Server.

If you are installing Chronicle on a home computer rather than on another computer within your office: Use your external IP address rather than your office's internal IP address; check with your network administrator if you aren't sure what this address is. If we are hosting Chronicle for you (you'll have an address that begins with j and ends with, this address will be the same whether you are in or out of the office.
